The ATM file extension is used to identify data files created by the Nugthat player. ATM files are used to store and share different media files and incorporate text, images and web links. ATM files can be edited with the appropriate software.
The ATM or Adobe Type Manager is an actual family of created computer programs for Adobe's Type I fonts, uses The ATM file extension. ATM was created originally for Apple Macintosh computers in order to scale PostScript Type 1 fonts for the computer monitor.Macintosh Type 1 fonts are set to display on screen at certain point sizes only, thus they appear jagged on the monitor when set at larger sizes. ATM allows these fonts to appear smooth at any point size by rastering the font's outline file. After the so-called scalable bitmap image is created, ATM scales these image to a size that it is being utilized, smoothes the actual edges of this image, and subsequently displays this smoothened image on-screen.The files with the .atm file extension were then ported to the Windows platform such as Windows 3.X, 95, 98, and ME where they were displayed by patching at very low level. On Windows NT, however, this kind of patching was unviable because of its design. Microsoft then added font driver support to allow the files with the .atm file extension be used on Windows NT.The original ATM was renamed to ATM Light, which automatically generates high quality files with the .atm file extension from the PostScript outlines in Type I, or OpenType format. With the new version, the files with the .atm file extension can be scaled without the characters appearing as jagged. They can be further improved by enabling the Font Smoothing feature, which intelligently improves the rendering of characters on screen by using the color palette of the computer monitor. With ATM Light, the files with the .atm file extension can be customized to create instances of multiple master fonts and they can be printed on non-PostScript printers.ATM is then expanded into a font management program called the ATM Deluxe. It performs the same smoothing functions as ATM Light, but has many other functions such as the deactivation and activation of fonts or sets of files with the .atm file extension so that they could be deactivated or activated simultaneously. It also allows printing and viewing of font samples, duplicate files scanning with the .atm file extension, file format conflicts, and missing screen or printer files.ATM Deluxe is no longer available, while ATM Light is still sold to Windows users. Windows Vista is notably not compatible also with both ATM Deluxe and Light because it can use files with the .atm file extension natively thus installing add-ons is unnecessary. The Adobe Acrobat Reader installs the Portable Font Server, a version of ATM, for its own use.

Audio file used by Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) games; may contain various types of game audio, including background music and other sounds; stored in a Sony proprietary format. Since ATM files are proprietary, they can only be played on the Sony PSP gaming device. However, ATM files can be transferred from a PSP to a computer using a USB connection.
