The CAD file extension is generally related to CAD drawings. CAD means computer-aided design, its the use of computers in the process of design, drafting or drawing. A typical CAD output is a either 2D or 3D model of some product, part or other technical data. It can include additional data, such as materials used, dimensions, processes etc. Many programs used and some are still using the CAD file extension for their drawing, these are however not compatible with each other. Currently most CAD programs use the DWG format or the DXF format for CAD drawings
File created by BobCAD-CAM CAD design products; stores CAD data including the 2D and 3D part geometry and dimensions; used for designing parts and products for manufacturing. BobCAD-CAM is available in several editions, including Mill, Lathe, BobART, Wire EDM, and CNC Router, WaterJet & Plasma. BobCAD-CAM can import content into CAD files from .SLDPRT, .DWG, .DSF, .3DM, .IGES, .STEP, .STL, .SAT, .X_B, and .X_T files. NOTE: CAD files are created by BobCAD-CAM version 21 and earlier. Version 22 and later use .BBCD files.
