Vector-based drawing image created by FreeHand, a program used to create illustrations and page layouts; contains lines and shapes, also called paths, to create drawings; can store simple shapes or complex drawings that use three-dimensional effects; used for storyboarding and multipage documents. In 2005, Adobe acquired Macromedia, the developers of FreeHand. Adobe discontinued FreeHand development and now offers its Adobe Illustrator software for vector-based illustration.
