The NDIF file extension is associated with the Apple NDIF (New Disk Image Format) compression disk image file format. NDIF compression file format was introduced in Mac OS Classic version 9 that contains new Disk Copy 6.0 compression utility. The NDIF compressed file is divided to resource and data fork. Resource fork contains metadata about archived files and data fork contains archived data. The NDIF file format was replaced by the Apple UDIF compressed disk image format. However NDIF images are still able to open in the Apple Disk Utility distributed with the Apple Mac OS X operating system.
