Files with the SXD extension identify an image file. SXD files are vector images that have been generated in the StarOffice software application. SXD files are created in the StarDraw utility and store graphic images that can be opened and edited.
The StarOffice suite in its Draw file likewise uses the file extension SXD, which is in the same as the OpenOffice.org office suite. Its release of its source code in 2000 made it a free and open source office suite, like the OpenOffice.org office suite. The original StarOffice is actually a subsequent version based in the OpenOffice.org, along with the proprietary components that it used to have. Versions of the StarOffice were also sold and had been a known office suite in the Eastern part of Asia, due to the language and fonts that it supports like Chinese (both the traditional and simplified form), Korean, and Japanese. The StarOffice employs the StarWriter as its word processor, StarCalc that is the spreadsheet application in the suite, StarImpress, a presentation program, StarBase, the database in the suite, and the StarDraw, which is the drawing tool in the office suite that uses the SXD file extension.
