The Arts & Letters DRAW software is a collection of clip art images, general purpose symbols, and BOSS fonts as well as powerful features designed to serve both the experienced artists and the casual users. It offers the ability to compose and create unique artwork based on a set of ready made images and art forms.The software's clip art images are stored in a Classic Clip Art Library, which contains more than 3,000 classic clip art images from the early nineteenth century through the late 1930's. These images are available in three formats: the Adobe Illustrator format called Uncapsulated Postscript files with the .eps file extension, the 300 DPI Windows Metafile files with the .wmf file extension, and the Arts & Letters' native proprietary files with the .yal file extension.Files with the .yal file extension are complex images in vector image format. Many of these files are very detailed because they are meant to be used as signature pieces, in singles or in pairs at most. While an ordinary clip art image such as a star can be used hundreds of times to form the starry sky, the file with the .yal file extension such as a whale image can only be used alone, as large as possible to show its detailed shadings.Files with the .yal file extension are grouped into the following categories: animals, announcements, architectures, borders and frames, children, decorations, dining, fruits and vegetables, furniture, households, kitchens, marines, men, personal items, plants and insects, silhouettes, tools, touring, toys, transportation, and women.Files with the .yal file extension can be accessed using the Arts & Letters Clip Art Manager. These images consist of two groups- "Outline" and "Detail". The most complex images in the Outline group can be identified with an "O" following their descriptions. Their artwork can be arranged quickly and when their composition is final, they can replace the outline with the complete image. When one of the files with the .yal file extension are added, the images they contain can be ungrouped to minimize the time it takes to draw these images each time they are resized or moved.Most of the files with the .yal file extension have been colored, but some are black and white. However, the colors of these images can be changed using the Arts & Letters Express. Express allows you change the color of all like-colored objects to another color at once without having to select each and every object.
